A PNG is compressed as WebP, since PNG has no quality setting for hitting an arbitrary size; transparency is preserved either way. Photo metadata (EXIF/GPS) is removed; visual orientation is kept.

When a 100 KB limit is strict
100 KB is a maximum, not an exact output size. The compressor keeps the original if it already fits; otherwise it searches for the highest quality that stays at or below the limit and reduces dimensions only when necessary.
