A PNG is compressed as WebP, since PNG has no quality setting for hitting an arbitrary size; transparency is preserved either way. Photo metadata (EXIF/GPS) is removed; visual orientation is kept.
How it works
The image is decoded and re-encoded in your browser's own canvas: Docspira searches for the highest quality that still fits your target size, reducing dimensions only if quality alone can't reach it. The result is only ever offered once its real file size is confirmed to fit. Nothing is sent to a server.
